The History of the Oppositional Roundtable I-II.
Film Screening
It was 30 years ago, on September 18, 1989, that the plenary session of the National Roundtable negotiations took place, where the three-month-long negotiations between the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party and the parties of the Opposition Roundtable on the peaceful transition were concluded.
The Black Box Foundation filmed 150 hours of video footage of the Opposition and National Roundtable negotiations, which was used to produce a series of five 50-minute documentaries that have not been broadcast on any television station in 30 years. The first two parts of this series of historical documentaries are available for viewing in the Archive’s Research Room.
The program is in Hungarian. The screening is free and open to the public.
Seating is on a first come, first served basis due to limited seating.
