As the second event in the eight-part series “From a Certain Distance”, writer Zsolt Láng will lead an unconventional guided tour combining video and live reading, entitled “Speaking Images – A Transylvanian Postcard.”

In connection with the exhibition The Tactless Photojournalist. The Archive of Lajos Erdélyi from the Ceaușescu Era, open until October 26, Archivum is organizing a series of accompanying programs. Between September 11 and October 26, 2025, together with writers, historians, filmmakers, and photo historians, we will recall the worlds revealed in the photographs—or, at times, what they conceal. Our guests will include István Jávor, Zsuzsa Toronyi, Andrea Tompa, Gábor Vida, Kinga Júlia Király, Klára Szarka, and Lenke Szilágyi. As the second event in the eight-part series From a Certain Distance, writer Zsolt Láng will lead an unconventional guided tour combining video and live reading, entitled Speaking Images – A Transylvanian Postcard.

Speaking Images – A Transylvanian Postcard
12 texts on 12 photos with video presentation, 70 minutes
Experimental guided tour

Zsolt Láng, born in Satu Mare and living in Târgu Mureș, is a writer awarded with the Attila József, Alföld, Mészöly, Milán Füst, and Libri prizes. He is an honorary member of the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Arts and has published more than twenty volumes. His dazzlingly intricate novelistic world, rich in miracles and enchantment, is deeply rooted in Transylvania. Not only the settings but also the sources of inspiration are his own homeland: Transsylvania. Both the landscapes and the people are Transylvanian—they originate there, live there, or return there.

For this occasion, inspired by the reportage photographs of the Târgu Mureș-based photographer Lajos Erdélyi, Láng has written new texts. Responding to our invitation to take part in the exhibition The Tactless Photojournalist, he wrote: “I am glad to write about the photos; I can send the texts, or even read them out in a short video, or join online—whichever way you prefer.”

At this unconventional guided tour, 12 texts will be presented at 12 stations, each inspired by one photograph by Lajos Erdélyi—thus bringing the images to life. The texts will be performed now for the first and only time, with Zsolt Láng appearing on video, while curators Zsuzsa Zádori and Lenke Szilágyi guide the visitors live through the exhibition.

Participation in the program is free of charge but requires registration.
