Blitz conference on the future of the Royal Palace

The Dialogue for the Castle Initiative is organizing a blitz conference to bring together stakeholders, Budapest residents, and experts to publicly discuss the controversial, costly, and ideological government plans for the reconstruction of the Royal Palace and the Castle District. Members of the National Hauszmann Plan Social Panel will be invited to the conference to have the opportunity to express their views in public.

The conference aims to discuss the following issues:

  - What reconstruction, alterations, and architectural additions are justified by archaeological, monument conservation, urbanistic, and architectural considerations?

 - What are the primary cultural functions that ensure an active community use of the Royal Palace and Castle?

 - What adaptations are needed to ensure that the institutions currently operating there or new ones moving in can operate under optimal conditions?

 - What heritage, architectural, and historical considerations justify considering the ”Hauszmann Palace”, completed in 1905, as an authentic building to be reconstructed?

 - Should contemporary architectural solutions be retained and, if so, why?
